Technology gives you wings!

Technology gives you wings!

Gone are the days when sportswear was all about wearing a pair of shorts, a random T-shirt and sneakers. Sports apparel design has changed drastically over the years. Branded sportswear makes use of the latest in technologies to meet specific requirements of each type of game. Performance enhancement sportswear is the norm in today’s highly competitive world!

Let's take a quick look at some of these technologies which keep you comfortable no matter what sport you play!

Move and stretch
Did you know that a meticulous thought process goes behind the manufacture of specific types of sports apparel based on movement. Several types of fabrics are combined to meet the sturdiness required for Lateral sports (think tennis, basketball), Linear sports(running) and Helix (soccer, rugby)  movements. Lateral sports requires flexibility in sports clothing for quick upper body movements as seen in tennis. Linear sports is focused more on uni-directional movements such as the forward motion in running. Helix movements are usually seen in sports such as football or soccer where there's more attention on the lower part of the body.

The Adidas ForMotion series of apparel improves comfort and enhances sports performance. The ForMotion technology uses a combination of compression fabrics in specific locations of the body. This helps improve muscle activity and control. There's more athletic freedom of movement due to the well designed cuts including such as the absence  of seams under the arms. The rear part features a longer fit to enable bent forward positions.

Adidas ForMotion enhances performance in lateral sports like tennis
Speaking of tennis, I bought this comfortable black Nike women’s tennis T-shirt with attractive prints. Might I add it looks quite spunky and sensuous once worn with a smart tennis skirt!

'Nike running' features technology similar to the one we've seen at Adidas. It seeks to helps you gear up for running from head to toe.

Keepin' it cool
Imagine the amount of heat generated during the entire duration of your game. Heat management plays an important role to keep you cool and focussed on the game.

Adidas ClimaCool technology employs special ventilation channels and three-dimensional fabrics to constantly keep the heat and sweat away. Your Adidas garments literally breathe in and out with the constant flow of air.

I bought this solid black Adidas jersey online in India with ClimaCool features to keep you cool during your long hours of training.

Staying insulated Winter sports makes your body temperature plummet, hence thermal and wetness control is quite crucial.
The Nike Therma-Fit fabric utilises a densely constructed, quick-drying microfiber fleece built to keep you protected from wind and cold. It is also well insulated to contain the body heat within the apparel.
The ladies choose from sporty winter wear jackets such as this really attractive sleeveless thermal Nike jacket I really want to buy. Just wish it was on discount! Oh wait , I think it is! Time to shop ;)

What I love about this Nike jacket is that it’s reversible while the quilted design looks pretty urban! Combine this stylish jacket with long-sleeve tees and low raise jeans for an uber cool winter street-wear look.

No sweat
Long hours of play generate a lot of perspiration. You need special sports clothing to keep the sweat away while you play your shots in style!

Adidas Climalite (patented) technology which offers optimum moisture management through its sweat absorbent fabrics. The moisture is passed on to the outside where it evaporates, resulting in a dry feeling of comfort. Professional sportspersons rely on such technologies to keep their performances sweat free. See what I just did there ;)

Check out this cool official Adidas Argentina team jersey featuring the Climalite technology.

This is similar to the Nike Dri-Fit fabrics which transfers moisture to the outer layers of the sports apparel for rapid evaporation. This bright red Manchester United jersey is a must-have for all avid football fans.

Dry as a bone
Whether it's a splash of water or the entire pool, a small breeze or a entire gust of wind, apparel which can resist the forces of nature is what's the need of the hour.
Puma’s Storm-Fit technology sportswear features fabrics that are both waterproof and windproof. This can be seen in the case of specific sport like golf, where Puma brings you comfortable and breathable sports apparel to let you focus on the game
Stall the power of the wind with Puma windbreaker jackets! This smart black Ferrari jacket gives you the style edge while keeping you dry and comfortable.

Speedo which is the king of swim gear and apparel, especially sunglasses, has teamed up with Progressive Sports Technologies to develop world-class triathlon suits. These suits are designed to be the very comfortable as well as the lightest and fastest options in the market. These suits have been tested on elite triathletes to ensure the best in quick dry, moisture wicking properties.

This was just a look at some of the kinds of super cool technologies used in sports apparel which lets you have loads of fun while you perform on the field. Well, there’s more and we haven’t even got to talking about sports shoes yet.. but that’s for another post.

All this talk about sports technology has sent me on an adrenaline high! I’m going to going to put on my sports gear and get the games started!
