Globe Trotters!

Our favourite tinsel town celebrities were at their fashionable best (well, barring some exceptions of course!) at the recent 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The media’s been abuzz with the red carpet score cards as always. Here’s our take on which ones worked and which ones were the quirks!

Ravishing in Red
These ladies - Reese Witherspoon, Diana Agron and Jeannie Mai - in their red silky fabrics looked gorgeous and were sure stunners. I’ve got to admit Reese simply looked so dignified and red hot at the same time!

Flaming red is THE colour I had on my mind when I recently bought this cool pair of red Numero Uno shoes, sexy ASOS dress and sporty Fastrack handbag as the End of season sale is on! I also found this red hot watch from Dolce & Gabanna. Pick your favourite clothes, shoes or accessories online and paint the town red!

Epic Fail?
While I’m normally a fan of pretty miss Sarah Michelle Gellar, ‘Buffy’ just didn’t get it right with her tie and dye gown.

The positive is that the cut resembles the bridal chic trend which has been spotted this Golden Globe. However the blue splatter does not flatter her too much. Apparently her 2 year old kid made the selection for the red carpet, so perhaps this time we’ll just forgive her! :)

There are better choices that you can make if you want to wear a blue and white colour collage. Check out these patterned AND tops and Jealous 21 top. You needn't try too hard to be cool. Pick up one of thse tops to gain an immediate entry into the fashion brigade!

Look Royal in Blue
Blue is a fabulous solid colour and it makes sense to get it right. A well-selected garment will do enough justice to the sophistication that blue brings.

Unfortunately, some just don’t get it right, like Kelly Osbourne for instance! Dressed in a Zac Posen fishtail dress with unimpressive sleeves and a dull hair do to boot, she completed an unintended grandmother look!

What was she thinking?!! Anyway, there’s someone who more than makes up for this faux pas by living it up at the red carpet. I’m talking about Sofia Vergara... whatta winner!

Sofia pulled off her Vera Wang fishtail dress with great elan. She looked super hot in this deep blue gown featuring a soft sweetheart neckline. Diamond studded jewellery from Harry Winston completed the look. She did bag an award for ABC’s Modern Family and sure does deserve one for this mermaid dress as well!

I simply love this deep ocean blue and had to get my hands on this women’s Eleana Arrow top. This silky top with jeans or leggings is just perfect for a day-to-evening look!

Almost there...

Socialite Nicole Richie went with sparkles in a Julian Macdonald S/S 2012 gown. On first glance it looked tricky because of the awkward straps, but it soon grew on me! Nicole exuded elegance in this delicate shimmer dress.

Nicole inspired me to go with shimmer, which is definitely a happening style option right now. Silvers and sequins, here I come! I bought the following - An Arrow dress in bling black, a silver Guess watch, a Spice Art clutch, and a pair of Carlton London high heels. Boy, do I just love those pumps!

And the award goes to...!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt made the best decision at the Golden Globes this season by sticking to timeless classics.

Angelina looked stunning in a floor-length satin dress by Atelier Versace. This asymmetric strapless white gown looks sensuous with the smooth drop of the satin fabric and the side slit running up to the knee.
We’d featured this Forever New champagne dress in an earlier post. I can't help but mention it again! I think it’s unbeatable thanks to the silky fabric and the sophisticated embellishment featured at the neckline.

Angelina has actually done a wonderful colour block with her dress, with the red fold running across the chest of the flowing dress. She accessorised with a miniature clutch bag in the same shade. I did buy a clutch online in similar hues, with some beautiful traditional bead work. Its a hit and I’m glad I bought it! :)
Satin’s simply a favourite with the couple. Brad Pitt looked a charming retro prince from every angle. He was dressed in a satin lapels and bow tie with a classic tuxedo from Tom Ford.

What I found really interesting were the shoes! Brad Pitt’s feet are blessed with black formal leather boots while Angelina looks stylish in peep-toe high heels!

You can buy leather shoes online of a similar variety worn by Brad, under the Red Tape range and for aspiring Angelinas, there are neat pairs of pumps from Catwalk and Inc 5

Okay ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to go all out and make some of these trendy new styles ours!  Whether it comes to silky fabrics, shimmer or attractive colours, flaunt it ‘cos you’ve got it!
